c,mm,n – your mobility. our c,mm,n future

c,mm,n is a community for sustainable open-source automobility. In the spring of 2007 three visual mock-ups presented the first results of c,mm,n to the general public at the Amsterdam Motor Show. c,mm,n is an initiative by the society for Nature and Environment (Stichting Natuur en Milieu) and 3TU. Several corporate partners are involved amongst which the main sponsors: Rabobank and Athlon Car Lease. In 2009 the partners intent to make people experience new product-services through several working prototypes at the AutoRAI. The c,mm,n philosophy aims at providing cars as part of a mobility service. That means that c,mm,n is not about selling cars, but about using them. With this new approach new ways of development, manufacturing and using are drafted.

The assignment

Your chassis-system design will explore the borders of the c,mm,n philosophy by developing the world's first open-source chassis. Your assignment will focus at finding a coherent and integral solution for the structural system of the car. Challenges include compliance with several out-of-the-ordinary demands like remanufacturability, flexible design at smaller series and low total costs of use. Your result will contribute to the open-source design of the car and developed further within the community.
